How Las Vegas Residents Can Help to Combat Racism and Intolerance

It sadly seems as if racism and intolerance are both on the rise in many communities. Most people don’t want to see bigotry become a common part of everyday life. Unfortunately, those with bad intentions and hatred in their hearts can often make life very unpleasant for those around them.

People do not have to sit idly by in the face of racism, bigotry and intolerance. Here are some ways that people can prevent the rise of racism and fight back against injustice, intolerance and hate.

Have The Difficult Discussions

Many times, racism and bigotry are allowed to fester because people are either too afraid or intimidated to stand up and fight back against it. This is why it’s so important that people are willing to have those difficult discussions, even the ones that concern their own prejudices and biases.

Educate Yourself

It’s important that you ensure that you and your family members are educated about the injustices of the past to prevent them from happening again in the present or the future. Examples of educating yourself include listening to a lecture about systemic racism or visiting a Holocaust center. Although it might sound a bit cliche, it’s very much the truth that people who aren’t educated in history are doomed to repeat the mistakes of past eras.

For more information about how you can visit a Holocaust center or learn how to fight back against racism and injustice, visit the Zachor Foundation at www.zachorfoundation.org. It is essential that people remain vigilant in the fight against bigotry.
